My apologies for this lovely before pic. It’s my reality, so I figured why not show the real deal, toys, table leafs and all?!
My sister Manda and I stumbled upon this tall, mid-century modern dresser and we were on the fence about getting it so we left it behind. I had seconds thoughts almost immediately and decided if it was there the next day while I was picking up the other, longer, mid-century dresser (that I couldn’t pass up!), I would get it. It was there and THANK GOD! This is part of the collection that I’m doing for a client who gave me the instruction to “execute my vision!” Yes, those dream come true words! She wants a home filled with furniture in all different colors and I’m the lucky lady who gets to choose them! This particular piece was to be used by her hubby, so of course I went with a more masculine design. Now, I’ve seen lots of midcentury furniture in my day, some of which was breathtaking and others that had gone terribly wrong. In my very humble opinion, when you’re refinishing Midcentury pieces, you really shouldn’t stray too far from the original clean line, simplicity. I’m not a fan of heavily distressing or shabbying up this style of furniture at all. I opted for some subtle, understated stripes and boxes to show off the beautiful flat front and the lovely curves of the top drawer. This is definitely one piece I wish I’d kept!
Here’s the final product! I’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure to leave a comment below and please feel free to share!
